welcome
I am Anabel Perez-Gonzalez, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and AASECT Certified Sex Therapist with nearly two decades of clinical experience. My training spans psychodynamic psychotherapy, family therapy, and sexual health.
I work with adults and couples in person in Midtown Manhattan and through telehealth across New York State.
My approach is relational, direct, and culturally grounded. As a bicultural, Spanish-speaking clinician, I treat identity, culture, and family context as central to the work, not as background detail.
how i work
My approach is grounded in three core principles that shape every session.
Therapy is not something that happens to you - it is something we do together.
I join clients where they are, whether that means sitting with an individual navigating something internal, or entering the dynamics of a couple or family system. The relationship between therapist and client is not just a backdrop to the work. It is the work.
What you see is what you get. I bring my full self into the room. Direct, supportive, and without pretense. I ask that you do the same. That means I will be honest with you, I will push back when it matters, and I will tell you if I get something wrong. My humanity is not something I hide. It is something I bring into contact with yours.
Culture and identity are not footnotes to treatment, they are central to it. I consider the full context of who a person is: their cultural background, family system, language, community, and the ways those shape how they experience themselves and the world. This is not a lens I apply selectively. It is present in every aspect of the work.
Grounded in psychodynamic and relational therapy, with advanced training in sex therapy.
